Hiccups. Don't you just hate them? Hiccups are caused by the intake of air while eating or drinking too fast. Hiccups are not a serious condition, although when I get them, they last all day. I have been researching how to get rid of hiccups all my life. I have several remedies that get rid of the hiccups.
The first one is to divert your attention. I had a bad case of hiccups as a teen, and my step dad showed me a $20 bill (big money back in the 1970's). My hiccups stopped. He didn't give me the money, but yet this technique worked.
Another remedy given to me by a co-worker was to stand on your toes, tilt your head back, and sip water slowly. This worked for awhile for me, although I looked pretty funny doing it! Since I used that remedy, it works for a moment but then the hiccups come back!
One tip I have yet to try is using peanut butter. Usually when I get the hiccups, I am no where near peanut butter, but since they came out with individual packets, I am going to try this....
Take a big bite of peanut butter and chew it slowly. That's it.
If you know any other tips that work for hiccups, please comment! I would love to hear it!
